Twain Mark

Écrivain américain.

"Mark Twain (pseudonyme de Samuel Clemens...) fut le premier grand écrivain américain né ailleurs que sur la côte est - dans l'État frontière du Missouri. Ses chefs-d'œuvre régionalistes (sont) le récit autobiographique Life on the Mississippi et le roman Huckleberry Finn (...). Son style influencé par le journalisme, imprégné de langue vernaculaire, direct et presque brut, mais très évocateur et plein d'un comique irrévérencieux, modifia la manière d'écrire des Américains. Ses personnages parlent le langage de la vie réelle et s'expriment comme d'authentiques Américains, car ils font usage d'expressions dialectales, de néologismes récents et d'accents régionaux."
